Jason Nelsestuen, Pastor

Welcome to Alta Vista Bible Church!

As the founding pastor of Alta Vista Bible Church, Pastor Jason desires to instill in the people a "high view" of God and his Word. He graduated with his BA in Biblical Studies from Grand Canyon University in 2017. Having lived in Tucson, AZ since 1993, he has a heart for the lost people in this city, always pointing to Jesus as the only way of salvation. The Lord has blessed him and his wife (Royce) with four boys (Jay, Cody, Ty, and Ian).

Matt Lewis, Elder

Matt and Stephanie Lewis have lived in Tucson for most of their lives, and both attended the University of Arizona. Matt has been a teacher for 12 years and both he and Stephanie currently work at Faith Community Academy. Matt has a love for teaching academics and the Word of God. When they are not working, they love to play outside with their four kids (Jackson, Karter, Asher, and Hudson) and go to University of Arizona softball games. Go Cats!

Who We Are

At Alta Vista Bible Church we strive to keep God's Word at the center of what we do.  Whether that is in our preaching, our music, or within our families, God's Word is central to who we are.

Expository Preaching -  Expository preaching explains God's Word by God's Word.  We draw out the meaning of Scripture within its original context.  Our format is a verse by verse preaching of God's Word every week.

Music - As we strive to make God's Word the center of all we do, music is a part of that equation.  We sing songs that either communicate the great doctrines of God's Word or come straight from God's Word.  Congregational singing is an important expression of worship.

Families - God's Word has a lot to say about families.  At Alta Vista Bible Church, families are important to us.  We teach about the importance of strong marriages, Godly parenting, and the importance of moms and dads teaching their children God's Word.

What to Expect

Our Lord's Day gathering forms the heart of our identity. Every Sunday, we gather together to hear God's Word, sing God's Word, pray, confess our sins to God, and to hear God's Word preached. Our goal is to worship the Lord in Spirit and in truth.

We are a family integrated church which means that the whole family worships together. Don't worry about rambunctious littles; Jesus welcomed the little children, and so do we. If desired, preschool and kindergarten-aged children may leave after the children's lesson for their own class.

After our service we fellowship over snacks.
